Hannover Trade Fair

In collaboration with the Hamburg company, RK Planen, protective measures were to be taken to support possible falling parts from the facade.

The planning phase included both the assembly design and the selection of relevant materials.

Between 16 February and 1 March, 5 height workers and 2 staff members from RK Planen completely covered both towers of the Hamburg trade fair administration building in protective nets. During the netting work, the facades were thoroughly examined by our staff for damages, and problematic boards were removed at the same time as the netting work.

To do this, 5 metre boreholes were first made and steel cables pulled and tautened. 80 metre "high", pre-manufactured nets (widths between 3-5 metres) were then stretched into the steel cable constructions.

The challenge of beating the icy temperatures was as successful as the hoisting of the nets and the lowering of the façade elements. In this way, the administration building was able to be used in time for Cebit 2005, as planned.
Even though, as our façade examinations had shown, the public had never been in any real danger, the building could now be used again with the calming knowledge that it was "safe", following completion of the work.

The flexible services of our highly qualified staff from an extensive pool of workers meant this complex task, calculated right down to the last day, was able to be carried out quickly and at a reasonable price.

Thanks to the safety work completed, an appropriate renovation design can now be developed for the facades of
both towers.
