Commercial cleaning of an office building

Because of the structural conditions up to 2003, 50% of the building had to be cleaned with a riser, and some parts also with scaffolding in the rear courtyard.
In addition, cleaning of all remaining areas was declared impossible.

In autumn 2003, our Cologne office was contracted to clean the facades, rear courtyard and pitched roof areas, meaning even these "inaccessible areas" were reached and cleaned.

While carrying out the work, it also became apparent that glass surfaces in particular, which were not directly exposed to rain, had to be cleaned at least once a year, as thick dirt would otherwise form and this could result in high subsequent costs.
Algae and moss growth mostly led to damages on the edge of the seal and underneath the ceiling profiles, or tarnished panels.
Similar seal damage was documented by us and repaired in an initial implementation phase in 2005.

In the meantime, Rope Access Solutions has been doing half-yearly cleaning, also involving inspections of the facades, exclusively with rope access techniques since spring 2004. 2 to 3 height workers clean the entire glass façade over 7 days, without affecting operational processes or the office complex.
